Sew Busy

These are a couple of skirts that I made for Kellee's girls. Lilly's skirt is the black and purple one. Kaitlynn's is the gold one. These were a little nerve-wracking to make initially. In fact, Lilly's was the first one I made and after making Kaitlynn's I took Lilly's apart and redid it. So much happier with the second try. Kellee saw the pictures on http://www.dana-made-it.com/ of the Turkey Dressing Skirt so I downloaded the tutorial and was off and running.

Just wondering if this picture frightens anyone else? I mean, really...that's one big bowl of salad they have there, does she seriously need to have the exact same bite he is having? I may not be able to look at another salad for a long time without getting some therapy first.

Done, done and done

At last, October is over! Now as I venture into the month that we think the most about giving thanks, I just want everyone to know that as of right now-I am the most thankful that October is over!

The Unveiling

Well, the wrappings came off today and I got a real shower and hair-washing. As you can tell, the surgery knee is still a little chubbier than it's normal chubbiness but it feels pretty good and I can bend it pretty well. Still not full range of motion but that's just the swelling. For those who are wondering what went on, I had a Meniscectomy on ny right knee. The doctor thought he would be repairing a torn meniscus but what he ended up doing was reconstructing it so that it was normal. Apparently, the meniscus is supposed to be shaped like a C and mine was shaped like a pancake and the layers had separated. Next up-a bunionectomy.

I Knee'd You

It started a year ago but here is the final result of a year of on again off again issues with my knee that ended up with it being a constant problem so the doctor decided to scope my knee. He was pretty sure that he would find some damage to my meniscus and possibly some arthritis. Here is a picture of my knee pre-surgery. They let me mark it with the red pen to show which knee was the one that would be getting surgery. then the Dr. came in and autographed the one he would be working on-they matched.

You're not the boss of me.

So...I took my darling 16 yr old daughter shopping for clothes for school. While at the store, i saw some jeans at a price too good to pass up. While I am helping her find some, I glance through the style that I like. Yes, I grew up in the 60's and 70's so I was looking at the flare legged jeans. However, as some of us probably have the tendency to do, I looked at those jeans that are so popular with the kids right now. You KNOW the ones I'm talkin' about they have straight legs. But not just any straight legs-the kind that strangulate your thighs and hug your calves so tight your knees can hardly bend. Well, at least that's how they fit my healthy-sized set of get-away-sticks. Well, my lovely daughter who looks SO good in anything catches me looking at them and says, ever so sweetly, "Uh, Mom...NO!" So I didn't. Why did I let her dictate my fashion choices? Well, during the same shopping trip I happened to notice another older woman shopping in the same area. She was probably my mom's age (79) and was all 'tarted' up in her best make up and the most recent Hannah Montana wear. I decided that my daughter was right, I should just stop. However, for those of you who see me in my awesome, straight-legged, tight-pegged jeans-here is the rest of the story. I returned to that same store with a different daughter a couple of days later, tried them on again and decided that I am 50, I can wear what I want. I also think I look pretty OK in them. Especially with my maroon high-tops. I'm pretty sure that was what the other lady was thinking so, more power to us both.
